The Left 4 Dead team asked players to continue to stress test ‘Cold Stream,’ Left 4 Dead 2’s fan-made campaign currently in beta, to help the team “fix… bugs, continue tweaking some game play and do the final performance optimization pass.”
Dead Air is a five-chapter Left 4 Dead campaign. On first release, it was the third campaign in the game but moved to fourth position in the wake of the subsequent issue of the Crash Course campaign. The Dead Air missions are nicely put together for co-op play and the rendering of your team-mates through walls is extremely helpful of course.
At times huge groups of zombies appear from pretty much nowhere based on your location, for an attempted ‘fright’ but would have worked much better if say a zombie was smart enough to hide in a cubicle and only jump out when you approached. For the most part though you will be jumping.
Along the way they must traverse rooftops, apartment buildings, offices, construction sites, surmount the manifold dangers posed by an electrical sub-station, find somewhere safe in short-term airport parking, attempt to check in, discover what really happens to lost airline luggage, battle crowds in the departure lounge, check their economy boarding passes before proceeding to the departure gate, and (in true budget airline tradition) ensure the airplane is prepped to fly before finally boarding their flight through the rear exit.
All in all, the addon sounds pretty cool, kind of like Zombies on a Plane if you will.
