Borderlands 2 Full Specs, Press Release and Details

It comes as no surprise that the success of Borderlands warranted a sequel as per our previous report last week, and since we remain steadfast with our reporting to you, it has now been officially announced as the cover story for next months GameInformer.  The new title will be showcased at Gamescom as well as PAX Prime, and albeit the title is more than likely in its early states, it’s a safe guess that demo alpha stages may be present at both shows.  The title will be releasing on all three major platforms, PC, PS3 and XBOX 360.

Within the press release by Take-Two was a brief description of what Borderlands 2 is bringing to the table. Of course, weapons and vehicles are a highlight, but so are characters and story. Here’s the description:

Borderlands 2 is the epic sequel to the ultimate four-player Role-Playing Shooter loot fest. Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.

A brief list of important highlights from what GameInformers article describes, should get you on par with what to expect from Borderlands 2:

Co-Op remains limited to just four-players.
The four characters from the original are now NPCs.

Story missions are more dynamic.
The future of your character may be shaped by the dynamic story.
For example, fail to arrive on time for a rescue mission, and your destiny will be altered.
A new element has been added known as Eridium.
