We have mustered up one of the first gameplay videos of Diablo 3 via their beta testing!! The video is gameplay of the most recent beta Diablo 3 just released to the internal dev stress testers, and notiecabley many of the sounds are either homage or simply enhanced Diablo 2 clips. Of course thousands of D3 beta videos will surface almost immediately in the days and weeks after D3 beta releases, but for now, we all just have to wait. Additionally the bill deaming release of gameplay videos online as be illegal may be fnalized at the time D3 beta releases anyway.
So back to the preview, what sounds so familiar in the lengthy beta video are specifically the goat deaths and monster growls. The video covers mostly the skill set and weapons/spells and powers the innovate developers have hand-fed to Diablo III, and they look astounding. Overall so far the game looks to be extremely similiar to Diablo 2 which is going to please most Diablo fans, as a few of the engine concepts we have seen directly from Blizzard but could not report on (as they were ‘alpha tests’) look like they have been ditched entirely to keep Diablo 3 as close to what Diablo fans want, enjoy, and will absolutely be used to.
According to our conversation today directly with the Blizzard team, we are here to squelch the rumors and save you some time hunting for an illegal or ‘leaked’ Diablo 3 Beta download, as none exist. Per Andy at Blizzard: “There is no date confirmed for the Diablo 3 beta, and there won’t be until the official Diablo 3 release date is announced.”
As our report on the original Diablo states, the engine and interface design was so perfect, it hardly needed improvement and subsequent versions didn’t need any. Noticeable improvements are ‘highlighted’ elements when targeting and 3D polish on enemies, along with a much more robust and dynamic set of randonm encounters with a larger slew of dyamic enemies, meaning if a couple foes look the same, that doesn’t mean they are going to act the same, are among a few of the biggest improvements released thus far, as well as the extremely detailed texture maps and location design being another huge upgrade. Given these and the storyline to unfold, there is hardly a doubt that as long as we have awaited this masterpiece that it will stun us for years to come.
Other pertinent information about D3 involves players to maintain an internet connection during gameplay. No doubt this report is a bit fuzzy a single player campaigns shouldn’t require this, but it’s possible Blizzard is not going to risk the ‘mod’ doom and in hopes of better security, you will have to connect to battlenet for single player mode regardless.
There are now six character skills for each class. No matter which character you choose, they will each have six slots for active skills and three for passive skills. Emphasis is placed on both combination of skill builds along with items you have equipped making for a very challenging combination to acquire. Let’s say it will be easy to get the hang of but difficult to master without an extensive set of planning and trials. Needless to say, the game will automatically have multiple sets of replay ability for this reason. Pets (or mini-demons as they are called), will also have the ability to acquire skills, upgrade-able with equipment etc.
Many fanatics are anticipating playing the D3 beta, and there are several reports about the auction interface, (to sell your loot to others for actual $$$), and a slew of other additional options added to the already perfect video game design. You can catch much of this coverage in the ‘related articles’ links we’ve provided for you here on this page. Make sure to comment and let us know what you think, expect, and wish for so we can hammer into our Blizzard developer connections brains before they decide to go gold on us without any notice.
After speaking with Blizzard directly today, the word as stated above is that any official statements on release dates are still under wraps as the game is still in development and won’t be set in stone until it’s ready. Likewise with beta versions being available to the public.
Those with a close eye will notice we’ve posted this entry into our ‘best games’ category as well. This will mark the first ever video game in history to make it to our ‘Best Games’ column prior to release. However, it kind of goes without saying that Diablo 3 will be a best game doesn’t it? Additionally, while it is presently unknown exactly how many expansions there will be for Diablo III, Blizzard does plan on expanding the game with future installments.

Their beta will probably run 2-3 months, expect a Q4 2011 or Q1 2012 release.
I am getting my new rig sometime in September, crossing my fingers it’s not going to be too late for this.
From the looks of it I don’t think you will need a high powered gaming rig to play it maxed. I am waiting till the new Bulldozer CPUs and new GPUs from AMD come out before I build mine. Hopefully around September like you mentioned.
Blizzards games are always capable of running on low-end hardware. You won’t need high-end hardware for this game, their games are scalable from low-end to enthusiast.
what class was shown last ? .. haven’t seen any of those skills before. is this a 6th class that has yet to be announced ?
This is a good question. I have not been covering classes, (want to stay surprised a bit myself), but there was a “sixth and final” announced, perhaps this was it. Who am I kidding tho, I always build a barb first…lol. Looks like he’s a tweaked shaman barb if you ask me. Let me know if you find out what he’s called.
Really fine site you have here… I too am just as earnestly awaiting D3 with baited breath. Glad to have a good reference place like GGD to keep up on it.
Great guide and details that you’ve obtained on this website submit.
Undoubtedly, one of the best places have come across on the D3 front.
