SEGA Announcements, Sonics 20th Anniversary and the 2011-12 game details

GameGuideDog contacts Kerstin Mueller senior PR Manager of Sega. Since it’s Sonics 20th Anniversary at the end of this month, we’ve decided to pay a bit o’ homage to the lil company and embrace things new and old with our interview. Lets’s get started.

GameGuideDog: “What’s new for Sega this year as far as projects in development and new releases in the scheduled pipeline?”

SEGA: “We currently have a bit over thirteen new titles on the board scheduled for either promotions or release. It’s honest to say the devs have had their hands full. For the anniversary of Sonic we have the new Sonic Generations which is everything you’d love about a Sonic Game and combines classic sonic and modern sonic, 2D, 3D, side scrolling, and even stereoscopic 3D. “

GameGuideDog: “What platforms is that coming out on?”

SEGA: “That’s for PS3 Xbox 360 and we’ll have a 3DS version coming out holiday season this year. “
GameGuideDog: “We’ve always loved Sonic, and just have to ask, is Tails involved with the Sonic Generations title? We like Tails.”
SEGA: “Well all the characters are included in Sonic Generations and Tails is there, but not a playable character…”

(Sonic Generations appears to mainly be a SONIC controlled game because it’s his anniversary.)
GameGuideDog: “That looks pretty cool! What else can we look forward to this year?”

SEGA: “Well of course we have the highly anticipated Aliens Colonial Marines which has already received several nominations, it’s a first person shooter set in the future in the aliens universe with everything can envision will come in a game like that. This title is scheduled for release in spring of 2012.“

GameGuideDog: “That also sounds pretty awesome, we’ll make sure to post the gameplay videos of these for our readers as well. I heard there’s more Sonic stuff coming out as well, what else is there?”

SEGA: “We also have one of our biggest titles this year coming out which is Mario and Sonic, as you know there’s been a long standing rivalry between SEGA and Nintendo since back in the ‘90’s and this is a pretty big deal, we’ve partnered with Nintendo for 3rd time now to create a game called Mario and Sonic at the 2012 Olympic Games. This is one of the largest and most successful franchises we have, that last two installments sold over 19 million copies. This title is scheduled for release November on the Wii and February 2012 on the 3DS.”

GameGuideDog: “Cool! Is Tails in it?”
SEGA: “I think yes….yes!!”
GameGuideDog: “You have several other major titles, what other games should we highlight for our readers?”

SEGA: “We have quite a few PSN XBLA strategy that we have implemented over the last few years, and with new titles like Renegade Ops is a top down vehicle shooter from Avalanch Studios in Sweden the creators of Just Cause which will be out later this year as well as for PC digital download, a multiplayer co-op blow stuff up action vehicle shooter.

We also have Binary Domain developed by the creators of the Yakuza series a squad based FPS shooter set in futuristic Tokyo…(Gameguidedog got a chance to see this title in it’s pre-alpha stages at E3 but no releasable images are permitted at this time) it’s basically robots are too human and they are taking over the world and you are a member of a squad in Tokyo and have to help retake control. This game is scheduled for early 2012.

Additionally we have the first “M” rated Kinect game Rise of Nightmares, a true blood and gore first person experience that basically you are stuck in a castle with a crazy doctor who is making zombies and this title will release this coming fall.

House of the Dead overkill extended cut is another M rated title for the PS Move in 3D. And if any of your readers are fans of Sega, we also have Shinobi on the 3DS, one of the beloved Sega franchises that we are bringing back to the 3DS in a beautifully recreated style coming out this September. “
