GamGuideDog speaks with Gill Ruso, a media rep for Nintendo about the Wii U, Nintendo’s new power is possibilities promotion. They have improved the sound, multiplayer, single player and all aspects of gaming on a Nintendo console with the Wii U.
GameGuideDog: “So it’s called Wii U, is the w-i-i-u?”
Nintendo: “Yeah, well it’s Wii {space} U.”
GameGuideDog: “Why is this system the next best thing?”
Nintendo: “We showcased the Wii U at E3 to prove that we always continuing to advance, evolve and improve the way people play games. This is definitely the next step, and one of the biggest features is the new controller. It has a 6.2 LCD screen with touch control on it and it allows you to do and see more as it’s also motion sensitive as well using a gyro sensor you can use. So this way you can use it to move around and experience the game environment that you usually wouldn’t be able to experience on just a stable television screen. “
GameGuideDog: “What kind of games are in development for the Wii U?”
Nintendo: “It allows for multiplayer experiences and the creativity behind the new games is astronomical. We have a new title called Chase Me with five players at a time where four chase down the fifth player with the screen controller and no one knows where he is in the level and he can see everyone else. On that new controller they have all the information of the entire map. This creates a situation where the four players have to talk to each other and communicate trying to figure out where the 5th guy is off to. Where is he? Where did he go? What color zone is he in? This creates a lot of camaraderie and a lot of fun for everyone. “
GameGuideDog: “What are other examples of titles that might use the full view of the new controller?”
Nintendo: “There’s a game called Shield Post {citation needed} that allows the player to experience a virtual environment with more than just the monitor by turning the controller to the left or to the right to see enemy pirate ships surrounding the player. In this experience they are trying to shoot suction cup darts at him. Using the new controller you can look and use it as a shield to catch those darts. Using the rhythm of background music you’ll strategically go center, left, right etc to catch them. Then just shake them off onto the deck of the ship.”
GameGuideDog: “Is there anything else you’d like to tell our 2 million readers about in regards to the Wii U? Is there a release date, retail price set, anything like that as well?”
Nintendo: “Currently we do not have a precise release date yet, we are saying 2012 right now. No bundle or skews or configurations yet. We are only showing the concept and we want everyone to understand what we are able to bring in the form of an experience which is one they’ve never seen before. “
GameGuideDog: “Any more specs we can squeak out of you? Is the system backward compatable, stuff like that?”
Nintendo: “Well, right now we aren’t able to announce too much of anything like that yet either.”
In conclusion, the system is really in a special stage and information will be released at a set launch time when it gets to market but overall, we were pretty excited to get this world breaking news to our readers and hope you think the system looks pretty cool. Let us know what you think in the comments on this page. Best comment(s) will win special Wii U items when the system launches.

Regardless of the specs, I’m just very excited for Nintendo going HD. It’s been a long time coming and the new controller is a great bonus with the console. I can not wait to see what this new console can do, also to be able to game while the wife watches Real Housewife’s is just the best
Keep up the good work on getting us all news. The release for Wii U is a long time off.
The controller video looks sick, how’d you even get that footage?
